All practice matches and monthly matches are open to NRAGC members and the public.
Match Schedule
- Practice matches — Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. (April through October)
- Monthly matches — 4th Saturday of each month, 9:00 a.m. (April through October)
Practice start times may need to be adjusted at the beginning and end of the season due to lighting — check with the Discipline Director for exact times.
Location
Practice and monthly matches are held on the NRAGC outdoor silhouette range.
Formats
Outdoor range with steel targets:
- Smallbore Cowboy Rifle
- Pistol Cartridge Lever Action Rifle
Weekly practice matches are generally smallbore cowboy rifles (no hyper-velocity ammo) and are open to all. Monthly outdoor matches are open to all, with some restrictions on ammo, equipment, and so on.
Course of Fire
The NRA Silhouette course consists of:
- 10 chickens at 40 m
- 10 pigs at 50 m
- 10 turkeys at 75 m
- 10 rams at 100 m
Each set of animals is shot in two banks of 5 — one shot at each target. There is a 30-second "Ready" period followed immediately by a 2-minute period to fire 5 shots. All rifle shooting is from the offhand position.
Registration Fees & Dues
Practice matches (per week):
- Members — $2.00
- Non-members — $3.00
- Juniors — $1.00
Monthly matches (per match):
- Members — $6.00
- Non-members — $8.00
- Juniors — half of member fee
